Lots of Goo and pool time..

Last Wednesday the girls wanted to make goo.  Goobleck is another name for it.  Have you every heard of it.  It is fun.. yet very very messy!

After we were done with the goo.. we had to get rinsed off.  The kids heard the ice cream truck so the girls went running to the corner, hoping he would come by..

Kate was such a sweetie!  She got 4.00 from David and decided to buy Anna and Ethan a treat.  She made sure Ethan could get the Spiderman pop.

Then it was finally time to go swimming.  We found the little frog below hiding on the inside flap of the top of the pool.

Ethan wanted to show me how he could go under the water..

While Anna continued to enjoy playing with the frog.

Mining for Gems

We decided to spend the last day of vacation, mining for gems.  The girls really enjoyed it.  They were directed to a cave where they had 10 minutes to dig in the sand looking for any gems they could find.

After they were done digging, they were sent to identify the gems.  This part was tricky!

After the gems they went and checked the sand art bottles..

We also enjoyed looking around in the shop.  They have alot of neat things here.. Kate picked out a shark’s tooth and Anna chose a worry stone.

We ended the day with some roasted marshmellows and glo sticks.

Bowling!

Friday of Vacation week.. We took the kids bowling.  Poor Ethan cried at first.  I don’t wanna go bowling.. I want my mommy!  However, when we got there he had a blast.  They even had a lightweight bowling ball just for him.

The first ball he rolled.. he kinda dropped down the aisle.  After that, he preferred to use this handy equipment.

I am not sure which was more fun for him.. the bowling or the bubbler..

Not a bad way to spend a rainy day..

Jury Duty

Every two to three years.. Like clockwork.. I get called for jury duty.  Now, those who know me .. know that I have a 60% or more hearing loss in both ears.  I have to be looking at you to get what you are saying even when I am wearing the hearing aids.  I do not hear radio or cd’s well at all.. unless I have headphones.  I wear amplifiers with headphones at theaters and rely on closed captions here.  How can I get them to understand this?  The very first time I was called, I was there all day long.  I don’t remember much but I do know that after I was called (second to the last) .. as soon as I let them know my hearing impairment.. they let me go.  Every time since.. I have been excused the night before.  I was not needed.  However, the week of Angel’s vacation.. I was needed.  First I had to put pants on over the sunburned legs.. that was painful.  It had only been two days since the burn and it still felt awful.

The plan was, Angel would take the girls to the park and maybe the movies.  Since we didn’t get to go to the drive in the night before (due to rain) we went out to eat instead.  Doing that alot lately.  I went in.. signed the papers, had a seat.  The lady there went up front and started listing out the rules and expectations.  I think I heard maybe 3 words.  It was awful.  She then put in a dvd of the court procedures.. thankfully that had closed captions.  I went over and explained my situation to her after the dvd was over… however she could not help.  I was going to have to stick it out.

Sat back down, tried to read… someone else is now talking.. She seems to be calling names.  I listen closely and hear my name called.  She says something and half the room walks out happy.  Ok.. did she just say if I didn’t call your name you can leave?  Or if I did?  so I sit.  Now everyone is standing when names are called.  I am the last one sitting.  Everyone is now looking at me.  Lovely.  I get the heck out of there.

I know some won’t understand my feelings here.. but this is humiliating to me.  My husband thinks I should just enjoy it and take the 20.00 I get each time.  But he just doesn't understand how this affects me.

Since it was just about 10:30, we all headed to Borders and hung out there for a bit.  Went to Panera’s to grab lunch.. but the line was out the door.. so we headed over to Bj’s and grabbed a quick lunch and slushies.. then headed home.  The girls had pizza the night before, then pizza at bj’s and then pizza again that night (leftovers) while I ate my leftover pasta with sun-dried tomatoes.  Yum.

The girls certainly started to get tired of pizza!  LOL

Trip to the Beach

A few weeks ago (July 20th), Angel took the week off work.  That Tuesday we decided to head out to the local beach.  Of course, after we leave I realize I forgot the sunblock.  I ended up running into a dollar general to grab some, while in my bathing suit and shirt.  Believe me.. I ran!

The Beach was beautiful!  However, there was a huge drop where the tide breaks on the sand.  I practically fell into the water and then couldn’t get out again!  The girls were just laughing at me.  I look and notice 3 jellyfish just cruising by.. at that time I notice Kate was getting out of the water in pain!  The Jellyfish got her.  Then I look down and there are these huge fishes swimming around my legs.  Talk about freaky.  I just don’t remember all of this at beaches in Florida?  Maybe because I was just young and loved the water.  That was probably all that mattered to me.

We decided it was a good time to have lunch.  We sat in our chairs.. girls on their towels.  Angel had his sandwich in his hand.. when a seagull out of no where.. tapped him on the head.  He looked up and then down again and his sandwich was gone.  The bird just dived for it.  Poor Angel lost his lunch.

We went back into the water.  I had fun tossing Kate around.  She just loves the water.  Then I stepped on a crab.. had to be a crab.. it closed right on my feet.  No pain.. just freaked me out a bit!

It ended up being a good day.  We loaded up and went home.  However, I discovered a problem.  I completely burned the areas above my knees, my neck and my shoulder.  I did wear sunblock.  I guess I should have re-applied.  I am really not used to getting burned.  What happened to that dark olive skin I was born with.  sigh.  I spent a few days in a bit of pain, but thankfully it didn’t last too long.
